“A beautifully written set of tales that will delight and enthrall”
About Tanya
Tanya Vandepoorter was born in Wokingham, Berkshire and now lives and works in France. She swapped London for Paris in her early 20’s and began a love affair with France that has lasted for over 30 years. A career working for some of the most iconic music industry titans in the 80’s and 90’s (RCA, Arista, WEA, Rough Trade to name but a few) provided the material for Tanya’s first book.
A French husband, three children, and an everlasting appreciation for Angela Lansbury followed, as did the fairytales. Writing them for her family and friends, they mirrored what her children lived, loved, and were more often than not, petrified of. Inspiration for the setting of these stories was provided by the beautiful French countryside of Les Impressionists, and later, the grounds of the wild and majestic Osterley Park in London. Glistening lakes, enchanted forests and hidden glades that really do exist – even though Tanya only ever caught a fleeting glance of these elusive landscapes, while being yanked along by her massive dog Foebe (think Hound of the Baskervilles), as a beast so huge and scary was she, only ‘off the beaten path’ would do.

Books

The Tales of Majestica
‘The Tales of Majestica’ is Tanya Vandepoorter’s latest collection of fairytales. Majestica is an island of magical beings, ruled over by the magnificent Brahmes – the only black unicorn to have ever existed. Granny, The Elf King and all the fairy folk who fly, crawl, swim, walk and occasionally knock seven bells out of each other, live there in chaotic but glorious harmony. These stories appeal to adults and children alike, and are told with humour, compassion, whimsy, and fantasy – laced with a dollop of the ridiculous. They are illustrated by Tanya’s dear friend and renowned artist Diane Dicker. The stories tell of everyday life, and of the worries faced by children since time began (plus a few ‘new age’ ones). Tanya’s years spent working with a child coach have also enabled her to share some of the strategies and insights learned from him, which let’s face it, every parent wished they knew when they first realised parenting was not all Enid Blyton and golden retrievers, but more like being spun around in a giant’s rucksack for a week and then sat on.
Welcome to Majestica. Where fairytales are not just for children, but for the child within us all.

The Frog & The Princess
These stories are bite sized tales for grown up children. Fairytales and no mistake, but with a bit of an ‘edge’. Yes, we’ll go with that.
Princess Penelope lives in a palace in the middle of a forest. She’s the most politcally incorrect princess you’ll ever meet. She has two faithful servants, her miserable french groundsman Marcel, and her pet frog Bob.
